6 Things You Probably Missed From The Harry Potter Movies

When it comes to the Harry Potter realm, we like to think of ourselves as experts. Now, we’re sure most Potterheads feel the same way.

We’ve dreamt of Hogwarts and receiving our own acceptance letter, signed into Pottermore to find out all about what our time there would be, and purchased just about every piece of merchandise that Hot Topic, Box Lunch, Target, and Barnes and Noble have to offer.

Our friends come to us when they’ve got questions about the spells and potions, about Quidditch and the Yule Ball, and even what personality traits they have that match each house. We know we’re not alone there, many of our readers are “Potter geniuses” themselves.

That doesn’t mean, however, that we can say we caught every single detail of the Potter films. In fact, after watching more times than we can (and should) count, we still find ourselves happening upon small details that we’ve not paid attention to before.

So today, we’ve decided to compile 6 things that you, too, may have missed when you’ve watched the Harry Potter films.

Some of these will probably make you say ‘duh…and you call yourself a Harry Potter fan?’ while others will have you popping in your Harry Potter dvds to see what we mean.

Mirror of Erised Inscription

This one is a really cool catch. In all honesty, it’s one of our favorites from the entire series.

We have to say that we like the more obvious hidden messages and meanings, too, and doesn’t everyone? It’s A lot of fun to be watching a movie or tv series and see an Easter egg or one thing similar that’s placed prettying obviously.

Whether it’s meant to catch our attention or, on the contrary, draw us away from something, we totally understand the appeal.

It’s spaced out differently too, but you can see the inscription below.

Dragon Safety

We’re almost always the last ones out of the movie theater, and it’s because we’re those people that watch all through the credits. We guess we can thank Marvel for that. There are the times when we don’t feel like waiting in the theater, but in those cases, we’re googling to make sure we didn’t miss anything important.

So when we heard that there was a special message at the end of Goblet Of Fire, we had to check it out.

The message was simple but important: no dragons were harmed in the making of Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire.

That’s a relief!

Verne Troyer Was A Goblin

Griphook, Gringotts’ goblin, was first played by Verne Troyer while Warwick Davis handled the voiceover. After the Philosopher’s stone, Davis took on the role in its entirety.

The Macarena?

This is one we missed the first time we watched the movies, in fact, a friend pointed it out to us much later. It’s also one that the internet has caught on to and it makes us all laugh! In the Goblet of Fire, the girls from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic do the Macarena.

It’s before the third task and it is definitely something you’d be likely to miss if you weren’t looking for it. It’s the perfect hidden gem and now, every single time you watch GOF, you’ll see it, too.

Harry’s Dancing Scene at the Yule Ball

This isn’t something you ‘missed’, per se,  but it is something that none of us could have known at the time.

There’s a reason, as Harry slow dances during the Yule Ball, that we only see him from the waist up. So what is that reason?

Well, Daniel Radcliffe’s filming schedule was so packed that he didn’t have as much time to learn to dance. For that reason, the cameras were focused on his upper body.

That way, there was no peek into any ‘off-key’ footwork that may have happened. Trust us, we know how it feels to be nervous dancing at all, just imagine the nerves when you know you’re filming a movie that’ll be seen worldwide.

Yikes!

Tonks’ Hair Color

So you probably didn’t miss this one at all, but you might have missed the reason behind it. It’s no secret that Tonks has pink hair in the book, but purple on film. The reason for the change? Dolores Umbridge embodies all things pink (except that fuzzy feeling you usually get when you see the color) in the movies.

To separate the color from Tonks was to make sure that fans knew there was no tie that binds between them.

It was a good choice.
