5 Harry Potter Fanfiction Stories to Read During The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Quarantine

If you’re anything like us, right now – everything going on in the world seems a little overwhelming. We’re stuck in isolation, some officially quarantined, and others are trying to make sense of what’s going on while trying to stay sane and keep our loved ones safe too.

It left us thinking, what a time for fanfiction. There are circumstances when you want to dive into your favorite stories again and again. Then, there are times when you want to search out new adventures for your favorite characters.

This is where fanfiction comes in. This is where it can help heal us, too.
It’s not lost on us that one of our favorite quotes – and one that’s so important right now – is a quote from Harry Potter.

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

So today, we’re turning on the light, and we hope you’ll do the same with us. While we’re all stuck in our homes, keeping up with the news but trying not to drown in it, we’re here and we’d love to be here for all of you too.

While that has to mean something different for many interactions, for us…it means that we’re digging into the heart of what HPFF is. What our forum is, what our community is. We’ve always hoped to create a place to go when everything else feels too heavy. A place to find peace and excitement and hope when it’s all a little too much everywhere else.

So join us, as we focus on 5 stories we’re reading right now.

A Year Of Hope by Cy The Cardinal
The title of this one is what pulled us in at first – couldn’t we all use a little hope right now? This fic is an AU with some canon pieces that focus upon the ‘Golden Trio’ – as well as Luna, Ginny, and Neville, coming together to defeat Tom Riddle for good. You’ll laugh your heart will feel full, and you’ll even get a bit of a romantic treat at the end of this story. It’s a wonderful little read.

The Girl That Changed Everything by LoveSpell
When Harry meets a loud and borderline obnoxious girl at Hogwarts, he finds himself stuck. Disliking her should be the easy part, right? So why can’t he stop thinking about her? Sometimes, love doesn’t make sense, and it doesn’t happen with the person we most expected to find. Love…it finds us, and we don’t really know it’s happening until the moment it smacks us in the face.
So this girl…maybe she’s the one that changes everything for Harry, and maybe it’s just what he needed.

Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue by DobbyMinerva
This one-shot is a look into Lily’s wedding to James from the eyes of her best friend. While it should be a day of celebration, there are some heavy emotions being felt – and they don’t really make sense. Could Lily’s friend be feeling the bittersweet tinge of the big change in her best friend’s life, or is it something much deeper than that?

    Locked in Secrets by Elena
This is a fic that tells a story of a romance between Draco and Ginny. The pairing isn’t a ‘must-read’ for myself usually, I’m a major Dramione fan, but this story grabs you and makes you fall in love as they do. The pair are faced with the knowledge that their love might not ‘make sense’. However, that doesn’t make it any less real, or important…or valuable. It’s just the way the world works and you always have two choices. Sometimes, you follow your heart and sometimes you play it safe.

Murder on the Hogwarts Express by Violet Gryfindor
If you’re looking to dig your teeth into a murder-mystery, this is the story for you. We love a good ‘dinner train’ mystery, and this has it all. When Nymphadora Tonks and Charlie Weasley find themselves investigating a deadly feud, they’ll come upon much more than they bargained for.

We hope you’ll find an escape from the day to day happenings in your life within these stories, and know that we’re sending you love and light.
