2019 Roundup Of The Best Harry Potter Fanfiction In The World

One of the reasons we fell in love with literature, from a young age, was the magic and seemingly endless opportunity to chase it with words. There are so many outlets to indulge in and build that magic when it comes to writing.

You can create songs, letters, stories, alternate universes, films, and comics – the list goes on and on.

You can watch films, listen to music, read stories and letters, spend hours looking comics, and our personal favorite – you can get lost in fanfiction.

In fact, we found so much of that magic when we found fanfiction, and it’s been an unbreakable bond since then. In fact, we find ourselves reading fanfiction more than we read almost anything else.

There are stories you can find yourself in, stories you can get lost in, stories you can find hope in, there are even stories that can help mend a broken heart.

While it’s hard to find favorites within any realm of fanfiction, we did try to narrow it down for today’s blog post. For every fanfiction reader, there will be different ‘go to’ stories in every subgenre, so we know it’s going to be impossible to cover all of them.

Here are some of the stories we chose for this go around.

2019 Roundup Of The Best Harry Potter Fanfiction In The World

    Invisible Circus by sceneii

When we first found this fic, we were in the mood to read a Ron centered story, and we’re so glad we stumbled upon it.

It’s not rare to find magic in Harry Potter fanfiction stories, in fact…it’s rare not to. This story, of course, contains magic. In some Harry Potter fanfic you’ll even find an air of mystery, but it’s hard to find fanfiction as unique as this one.

With Ron as a betrayer of Harry Potter (and the life we’ve seen him grow to love), readers are forced to question everything we know and love about the character.

What could have made Ron turn on Harry? Was there something bubbling under the surface all along? Why is Ron so far from who we’ve known him to be?

Those questions and more will be answered as you read Invisible Circus and you’ll certainly be emotional – but you’ll love the ride.

Apple Pies And Other Amends by toeatapeach

Feelings between Hermione and Draco get sweeter. Art by CaptBexx.

If you’re a Draco/Hermione fan, this probably won’t be a new fic for you, but it’ll definitely be one you’ll gladly reread – time and time again.

In this fic, Hermione is dealing with PTSD in a way she didn’t expect, and that’s probably because she wasn’t expecting it at all.

There’s a lot of baking in this fic, a lot of healing, and a lot of love in some unexpected places – the theme is evident throughout. The things we need most may not be the most obvious, sometimes…they’re the small things that begin healing us before we even realize it’s happening.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words by SSAerial

This fic is a short and easy read, and it’s one that’ll keep you hooked from the first sentence. A tale of Ron and Harry in the Slytherin house, this fanfic will have you in stitches.

Harry and Ron don’t exactly belong in Slytherin…but the Sorting Hat makes no mistakes, right?

That may be true, but it seems as if the hat can be persuaded to…side with a student on which house they believe they belong to if said student is stubborn enough.

While this is just a snippet into what could be a much larger universe, it’s a good one. So if you want a little bit of a totally alternate universe type story with ups, downs, and a sprinkle of drama within, this one is for you.

A Wonderful Caricature Of Intimacy by Countess Of Abe

We are suckers for this fanfiction, and there are probably a couple of good reasons for that. One, it’s single dad Draco and we have an unusually soft spot in our hearts for that storyline. Honestly, we didn’t know we needed it until we read this, then…it was a brilliant addition into our fanfiction ‘must-haves’.

Draco needs help when it comes to the mother of his child, and who better to help him than a close friend, right? Well…that’s not exactly what happens for Draco in this fic, at least…not at first.

Hermione is who Draco reaches out to for help, and it’s quite possibly the best decision he ever could have made. Not just for his sake when dealing with legal dilemmas, but for the sake of his own heart, too.

We have a feeling you’ll fall in love with this story, just as we did.

    Conquering The Darkness by cappie

We love fanfiction, especially when it involves our old pals Ron, Hermione and Harry. Harry Potter Fanfiction is some of the most interesting and widely loved fanfiction on the planet. In this article we highlight some of the very best HP fanfiction stories from throughout history, updated for 2018. #Harrypotter #hp #fanfiction #harrypotterfanfiction

The synopsis for this one is originally what piqued our interest, that and we’re suckers for a good Draco and Harry romance.

‘When Draco’s world is literally cast into darkness, both he and Harry realize that sometimes the dark is all a person needs to see more clearly.’

What starts as a dislike for one another grows to an experience that allows both characters to learn, grow, and eventually love with the help of one another. This journey through ‘darkness’ quite literally for one character, shows us all what it means to truly find the light.

    Draco’s Delicious Dilemma by darkmagicalgirl

This story is sweet, in more ways than one. The title definitely serves to lead readers into preparing for something as such. It’s a delicious dilemma for Draco, and it happens quite literally, in fact.

When Draco goes into the coffee shop of one, Harry Potter, he finds himself feeling much different about the circumstances than he originally anticipated. Not only does he not mind the shop itself, he doesn’t mind the company inside of it or a particularly delicious pastry.

From there, antics ensue and a bit of almost kissing and some literal running away – but it all works out for the best in the end.

    Quite deliciously.

      1. I would recommend A Second Chance by Breanie on AO3. It is a massive fic with an simple premise. What if, after four years, Sirus Black got the trial he deserved? After that is a roller coaster of feels, heals, adventure, and growing up.

      2. I would recommend you to check The Eagle’s Nest by HeartOfAspen. She just finish it earlier this year and for me it is the best and most solid Dramione 8th year fic I’ve ever read to date. Her Hogwarts is magical, I can even say it’s better than JKR’s.
I tend to avoid 8th year fic or generally Hogwarts era fic in how they overabused Room of Requirement, Silencing Charm, and especially that Sex-God-nonsense (please, they’re teenagers and students with classes and homeworks to do!). But she done it right in this fic: that they are teenager, barely an adult, who just out of war with trauma and problems; they’re a mess but try to get their youth back again and since they’re young, they fool around and make mistakes. Nothing is tied nicely, but that’s how life is.

      3. You should definitely check out Isolation by Bex-Chan, in my opinion, the best Dramione story ever written, it’s a long ride but so worth it. And I think the other one would be The Deadline by Lina Phoria, it’s a Dramione fanfic ass well, as you can see I am all for the Dramione fandom. Does two are definitely worth checking it out, and they are both so differently an trit the relationship between Draco and Hermione very uniquely, specially because Isolation is set during the year of the seventh book, and the deadline its set 20 years later, so you can see that ones deal with a grown-up version of the character and with all that entails, including jobs, family and world building in general, while Isolations flawlessly keep the flow of the story from the 7th book, but with one key change, what if Hermione never left with the boys to hunt down the Horcruxes. So it deals with a frustrated Hermione, left behind at Hogwarts with the rest of the students, trying to do her best and help with the war in any way she can, and with a defeated Malfoy, with only one gold in mind, to get away from the people that want him dead (everyone) so he finds a safe haven in the most unexpected places, Hogwarts. This is a fanfiction where the respect and trust that is built between them is so organically, if you are not a Dramione shipper, after reading this you probably will.
